What Actually Drives the Price of Hydromet Equipment
Two quotations for "the same" reactor can differ by a factor of four. The difference is almost always in five variables, and each is a decision you can make deliberately rather than discover after delivery.
The five variables

Material is the biggest lever
A 316L vessel handling dilute acid at ambient is a commodity. The same vessel in titanium for chloride service is a different product. Suppliers who quote a low price without asking about chloride are either assuming 316L or planning to substitute. Ask for the wetted-parts schedule in the quotation.
Pressure is often over-specified
Buyers frequently request a pressure rating "for safety" when the process runs at atmospheric. Pressure vessels need thicker walls, certified welds and usually third-party inspection. If the reaction does not require pressure, say so in the inquiry — it can halve the price.
Certification is not optional in Europe
CE marking under the Machinery Directive, PED for pressure equipment and ATEX for flammable atmospheres are legal requirements, not upgrades. A quotation without them is not comparable for an EU installation — and retrofitting certification to an uncertified unit is usually impossible.
How to compare offers
Ask every supplier for: wetted-parts schedule, pressure and temperature design basis, instrumentation list, certification scope, documentation list, lead time, and warranty terms. Then compare. The cheapest offer usually differs in three of these and the difference only appears after installation.
